Dr Sophie Pinkham is an academic researcher and author, specialising in Russian and Ukrainian culture, history and politics. Her writing was featured inThe New Yorker,The New York Times, n+1 and the London Review of Books, among other publications.
In 2016, Pinkham published her first book, Black Square: Adventures in Post-Soviet Ukraine, whichblends reportage and cultural criticism to trace the emergence of an independent Ukraine and the beginnings of the current conflict. Dr Pinkham has a master’s degree in Russian, Eurasian and Eastern European Studies, as well as a PhD in Slavic Languages and Literatures from Columbia University, New York.
